EU to launch world’s first blockchain observatory

The European Union is going to create a Blockchain Observatory and Forum, according to Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society.
It is initiated by the European Commission. The project development will involve ConsenSys, one of the leading startups in the Ethereum ecosystem. It is founded by Joseph Lubin, Ethereum co-founder and the most influential person in the blockchain industry.
The Blockchain Observatory and Forum are primarily aimed at establishing a single digital blockchain market in the EU.
The Blockchain Observatory will determine the role of European regulators and regulatory authorities in the blockchain industry. It will also help the EC to analyze potential risks from these technologies.
The Blockchain Observatory and Forum will allow the EU to develop existing blockchain projects and improve their operation in order to make them beneficial for all the citizens despite incomplete initiatives.
